We are 30 minutes’ drive from Cherbourg 1.30 hours from Caen ferry and 2.30 hours from Le Havre and 4.30 hours’ drive from Calais
There are three large supermarkets within less 10 minutes’ drive

- Briquebec – Mon
- Portbail – Tues
- La Haye de Puits – Wed
- St Mere Eglise – Thurs
- Valognes – Fri
- Barnville Carteret – Sat
- Briquebec is the largest & offers the very best experience. All markets offer fresh produce and have some china, clothes & alternative stalls as well
Nearest Town
La Mare Chappey is less than 10 mins drive away from Local shops in medieval towns of Bricquebec and St-Sauveur-le-Vicomte, a 30 min drive away the city of Cherbourg.
Nearest Beach
Portbail is the closest beach 15 minutes and is ideal for walks or for swimming. Carteret is a little further away 5 minutes but, in the opinion of all guests, a better beach experience with its soft white sand, rock pools and restaurant on the beach, also the vast variety of creperie and restaurants to fit all budgets and taste. Plus boutique style shops to browse through not forgetting the tantalizing patisseries Hmmm.
Fantastic holiday. Gite & facilities were excellent. The pool is lovely, the kids enjoyed that as well as all the play equipment. BBQ Fab! Beaches and surrounding area is just perfect. Thanks to Audrey & Geoff for their hospitality.
